Executive Leadership Team
The American Diabetes Association is leading the fight to end diabetes through lifesaving research, programs, and advocacy. This fight is national, but we are most successful when we build strong local partnerships, working from the ground up to mitigate the effects of diabetes on our region’s residents, employers, health systems, and communities at large. We invite business and community leaders in the Capital Region to step up and join us in this fight by becoming a member of our Executive Leadership Team. For more information on this opportunity, please reach out to Katie Suatoni at ksuatoni@diabetes.org.

Janice & Jim Horbowicz Tour de Cure Volunteer of the Year Award
Volunteers are at the heart of what we do at the American Diabetes Association. Two individuals who truly exemplify a commitment to our mission are Upstate NY's own Janice and Jim Horbowicz. Janice and Jim have volunteered with the ADA in various capacities since the 1980s, from local roles on Tour planning committees to serving on ADA's national board. Most notably, Jim is credited with being one of the co-founders of the Tour de Cure. Bringing this event to life changed the trajectory of the ADA, raising crucial funds in the fight against diabetes while creating an incredible community for those affected by it.
The Janice & Jim Horbowicz Tour de Cure Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes an individual who embodies the spirit of service and dedication to achieving a life free of diabetes and all its burdens. This prestigious honor is bestowed upon a Tour de Cure volunteer who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of those impacted by diabetes. Eligible candidates must have contributed their time and energy to a volunteer committee or served as a day-of-event volunteer for a minimum of one year. The recipient of this award not only goes above and beyond but also symbolizes the essence of the American Diabetes Association's staff/volunteer partnership, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the Tour de Cure and advancing the mission.
