Event Information

Join us for the ride of your life at the 2010 Tour de Cure Orlando event! The ride will start and finish at Fort Christmas Historical Park! The Tour De Cure Orlando promises to be even more fun and challenging, designed for both the novice and avid cyclists.  While the beautifully scenic back roads of East Orlando offer a fairly flat terrain, the famous head winds of that side of town will offer a work out challenge for the most athletic cyclists out there.

Once again there will be 4 routes to choose from, 20, 50, 70 and 100 mile rides! Whether you’re an avid or novice cyclist, we have a ride for you!

You can start your day off with bagels, fruit, juice and coffee for breakfast.  Our team of volunteers will assist you with medical and mechanical needs throughout the day.  Rest Stops complete with bathrooms, food, fruit, power bars, water and much more will be available every 10 – 18 miles.

When you finish the ride there will be massage therapy, music, entertainment, awards and a health and wellness expo.  Lunch will be provided from 11:30am- 2:30pm.

Red Rider Campaign red rider logo

The Red Rider Campaign is designed to place the spotlight on and recognize people with diabetes who have also taken on the challenge to Take The Ride of Their Life. The Red Riders are ANY participants in the Tour de Cure who is living with diabetes, Type 1 or Type 2.  The Red Riders are the ones who actually ride the ride, but it doesn’t matter if they are on a team or an individual rider.  If you have diabetes – YOU ARE A RED RIDER and can qualify for a Red Rider Jersey!

Fund-raising Minimum

Every 20 seconds someone is diagnosed with diabetes.  If you have diabetes or know someone with diabetes, think of that as your reason for raising as much money as possible for diabetes research and education.

Aim for greatness by becoming one of the 2010 champions for diabetes:

  • Silver Spokes - $1000 - $2099
  • Golden Gears - $2100 - $4999
  • Platinum Pedals - $5000 - $9999
  • Pace Setters - $10,000+

Raise the required $150 minimum and receive the 2010 Tour De Cure commemorative T-Shirt.  Raise between $200 and $10,000 and receive a special thank you gift in recognition of your fundraising achievement.  If you make it to one of the fundraising club levels you will be rewarded with the VIP treatment at the Tour event.

There are web tools that will make your fundraising easy and fun.  Recent studies show that participants who used those tools, raised and average of $408.35 vs. those who did not and raised on average $96.87.

Think about this...

If you rode 3 miles at least 3 times a week from now until the Tour de Cure you will have put over 180 miles on your bike!

If you gave up your $3 latte at least 3 times a week from now until the Tour de Cure and donated that money to the ADA you would be able to contribute over $180 towards your Tour de Cure fundraising efforts...well over the $150 miniumum requirement to ride.

Be a Team Captain

Form a corporate or family team and increase the amount of fun and excitement you’ll enjoy while training for this event and ultimately riding in it.

  • Corporate team participants enjoy riding and fundraising together while bringing a sense of corporate pride and developing strong relationships.
  • Family teams are an important aspect of the tour de cure.  They become involved more often than none become involved on behalf of a family member or themselves.  Austin's Army small

If you start a Tour de Cure team NOW and get 1 person to sign up on your team each week you would have an over 20-member team!

Volunteers

An excess of 175 volunteers are needed to successfully coordinate this great event.  Volunteering for the Tour De Cure is a perfect opportunity for teenagers to earn community service hours.  To find out more about volunteer shifts and opportunities, please click on the volunteer registration form.
